VRM TEAM A.S.D. in collaboration with the municipalities of Malcesine, Avio and Brentonico organises the second edition of the MALCESINE BALDO TRAIL – 16k SHORT trail running event included in the Fidal National Calendar.

Meeting point at 8 a.m. on Sunday 5 May 2024 at lakefront Paina

Start at 10.00 a.m.

Course

The race takes place mainly on gravel roads for about 16 km with an altitude difference of 1.185 metres.

Conditions of participation

In accordance with the “Norme per l’Organizzazione delle Manifestazioni Non Stadia” issued by FIDAL, athletes registered in Italy may only participate if they are at least 18 years old and meet one of the following conditions

  • Athletes registered for 2024 for FIDAL affiliated club
  • Italian and foreign athletes in possession of a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and eligibility to start) and athletes registered with a sports promotion organisation (Athletics Section), in possession of the Runcard-EPS and the Runcard Trail, limited to persons over 20 years of age, in possession of a valid medical certificate of specific agonistic fitness for athletics, which must be submitted compulsorily, including digitally, to the companies organising the event in question.
  • Italian/foreign athletes not registered in Italy in possession of a club card affiliated to Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics valid for 2023. Alternatively, at the time of registration, they must provide a self-certification of possession of a membership card recognised by World Athletics. The self-certification must then be signed in original when collecting the race number.

Registrations

Registration is open from 28 October 2023 to 3 May 2024, it can be done online through the website endu.net

The registration is considered effective and confirmed when all the information requested in the registration form has been correctly provided, payment has been made and confirmed and accepted by the organisation.

Registration fees

The registration fees are staggered as follows:

  • 28 October to 30 November 2023 – € 18.00
  • 1 December 2023 to 31 January 2024 – € 23.00
  • 1 February to 31 March 2024 – € 26.00
  • 1 April to 3 May 2024 – € 30.00

The registration fee includes:

Refund of registration fees

The participation fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
It is possible to transfer your already purchased bib by and no later than 20.04.2024.
In this case, the transferring participant must pay the secretariat fees and the difference between the fee paid by the transferor and the fee applicable at the time of the change request.

Cancellation of the event for health protection reasons

In the event that the event cannot be held on 5 May 2024, the organisation plans to move it to the 2025 edition free of charge.

Participation in the event

Environmental protection

Participation in the campaign “I don’t throw away my waste”.

Athletes are required to behave in an environmentally friendly manner and in particular to avoid litter, both in the vicinity of the refreshment points and along the entire route.

Issue of bib numbers

The race number can be collected in Malcesine, at the event secretariat, on presentation of the confirmation letter and a photo ID:

  • Friday 3 May from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. for 1k vertical and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (for members of all distances)
  • Saturday 4 May from 6:00 am to 8:00 am (for 24K and 50K entrants) and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm (for 16K entrants)
  • Sunday 5 May from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. (for 16K participants)

Times and locations of race number collection are subject to change and will be published in the updated event programme on this website.

Bib number

The bib number will be assigned in consecutive order.

The bib number has a different colour to indicate the race distance.

The bib number must be worn on the chest and be fully visible throughout the race. It must be placed over the clothing and may not be attached elsewhere under any circumstances, otherwise the athlete will be disqualified.

The chip is attached to the bib number and may not be removed.

Meeting point

Before the start, each runner must pass through the entrance gate to the closed start zone.

f necessary, the participants will be divided into starting groups according to the criteria set by the organising committee.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO CHANGING ROOMS OR SHOWERS.

A PICK-UP AND DELIVERY SERVICE FOR BAGS WITH PERSONAL CLOTHING WILL BE PROVIDED.

The event will take place in all weathers.

Refreshment station

The refreshment points will be supplied with drinking water and disposable products.

No plastic cups will be available at the refreshment points, runners must bring their own glass or other suitable container to drink from.

Refreshment point at the finish line

Upon arrival, a bag with water and solid food is handed out.

Running rules

By registering, the runner undertakes to carry all the compulsory material listed below with him/her throughout the race, otherwise he/she will be disqualified. The compulsory material can be checked at the bib issue, at the start and/or at various points on the course and at the finish.

Mandatory material:

  • Personal glass with a capacity of at least 150 cl (if the water bottle has a large lid, it is considered a glass): NO GLASSES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE REFRESHMENT POINT
  • Race rucksack to carry the obligatory equipment
  • space blanket
  • Waterproof jacket (in case of heavy rain forecast with 20k water column seal)
  • Whistle
  • Mobile phone
  • Sufficient water supply (at least 1 litre)
  • suitable footwear for running on mountain terrain (rocks, stones, gravel)
  • energy bars or solid foods

Material recommended depending on the weather

  • cap or bandanna
  • gloves
  • Sun glasses
  • sun protection cream
  • long-sleeved thermal shirt
  • third layer (winter jacket) in case of particularly cold weather
  • mineral salts

the use of sticks is allowed

Maximum time and time barriers

The maximum time for the 16k race is 4 hours and 30 minutes

An intermediate chronometric control point is foreseen, fixed on the basis of the overall distance and the logistical characteristics of the race track. Athletes who do not pass the checkpoint within the time limit will be considered to have dropped out of the race and will be taken back to the start/finish point by the organising committee.

The participant who is eliminated from the race and continues to run nevertheless assumes full responsibility for the resulting consequences.

In case of bad weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organisation reserves the right to interrupt the race in progress, to postpone the start, to change the course, to change the time limits or to cancel the race without prior notice.

Abandonments and returns

In the event of abandonment of the race on the course, the participant is obliged to report his abandonment at the nearest control point by declaring himself as having dropped out.

The organisation will take care of the return transport of the runners from the checkpoint to the finish, also with the help of the Monte Baldo cable car.

The return of the dropped out athletes outside the checkpoints is not guaranteed, unless they are injured.

A “pick up” service will be set up to follow the last runners on the course to help those who have dropped out and to avoid injuries going untreated.

Safety and medical care

Ambulances, civil defence and doctors will be on site.

The aid stations shall provide assistance to all persons in danger by their own means or through contracted organisations.

Medical attendants are authorised to stop runners who are found unfit to continue the race.

Rescue workers are authorised to evacuate any runner who is in danger by any means at their disposal.

A runner who contacts a doctor or rescuer de facto submits to their authority and agrees to respect their decisions.

Timekeeping

The timing is done by means of a chip attached to the personal race number.

Timing is in real time, i.e. the time is recorded when the participant reaches the finish line after crossing the start line, regardless of the start time.partenza.

Rankings and prizes

All participants will receive a chip in their race number.

The timing service will produce the general classification for men and women.

The rankings will be published on the endu.net website.

After crossing the finish line, each runner will receive a “finisher” medal.

No result printouts will be posted.

Award ceremony

The prize-giving ceremony will take place on Sundayat 1.00pm

Disqualifications

he competition jury may disqualify a participant in case of a serious breach of the rules.

Changes to the course or time limits – Cancellation of the race

The organisation reserves the right to change the route or the location of the rescue and refreshment stations at any time and without prior notice. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions or for other reasons beyond the control of the organisers that endanger the safety of the participants, the start may be postponed or cancelled, the route may be modified or shortened and the race may be abandoned at any point along the route. These changes will be decided by the Jury after consultation with the safety and medical teams. A change, suspension or cancellation of the race does not entitle the participant to a refund of the entry fee.

Safety and medical care

The organisers will take out liability insurance for the duration of the event.

Participation is under the full responsibility of the runners, who waive any recourse against the organisers in the event of damage or further consequences that may arise from the race.

Upon registration, the runner must sign a waiver of liability.

The runner agrees not to register and participate if he/she is not medically fit and especially not athletically prepared.

Image copyright

By registering, participants authorise the organisation to use photographs and moving images of them during their participation in the race, free of charge and without time or territorial limitation.

Updates and latest news

The Organising Committee reserves the right to amend these regulations at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for the better organisation of the race, after informing FIDAL and obtaining its approval.

For anything not provided for in these regulations, the technical regulations of FIDAL and the G.G.G. shall apply.

All changes of performances, places and times will be duly communicated to the registered athletes or published on the website https://malcesinebaldotrail.run

In addition, the documents containing the most important information for participation in the race will be sent by the organisation together with the race number.
