The charm of Alto Garda captivates off-road racing enthusiasts. On a morning with memorable weather conditions, the fifth edition of the ASICS Malcesine Baldo Trail got off to a great start with the long distances of 52 and 26km.

In the first race, starting from the Malcesine lakefront at 7:30 AM, the fastest were Frenchman Rémy Valenti and German Carina Helmreich. King and queen of the 26km were Veneto natives Francesco Lorenzi and Martina Dal Bosco who, thanks to this victory, won the Fidal regional title in the Short Trail category. Tomorrow’s grand finale features the 16km race.

While awaiting the final results, the running tally is already positive with a total of over 1,100 participants from 32 different nations. Yet another confirmation for the event designed on the trails of the border peaks between Trentino and Veneto.

FRENCHMAN REMY VALENTI & GERMAN HELMREICH ON THE LONG DISTANCE

On the trails overlooking the towns of Malcesine, Brentonico, and Avio, Rémy Valenti left no doubt against his competitors. He set a record time with a finish of 5h45’07”. A true triumphal ride over the highly technical 52 kilometers that took competitors over 3,355 meters of elevation gain with spectacular passages at Monte Altissimo and Monte Baldo, before the long descent toward Malcesine. Second and third place went to Italians Alberto Freschi and Marco Zanoner, who finished in 5h47’57” and 5h55’19” respectively.

In the women’s race, a surprise victory for German Carina Helmreich (6h58’57”). She took the win over Swiss runner Claudia Caroline Erhart (7h12’15”) and Italian Svetlana Ciobanu (7h13’45”).

DOUBLE-VALUE VICTORY IN THE 26K

A good fifth edition for Veneto’s Francesco Lorenzi, who finally managed to inscribe his name in the ASICS Malcesine Baldo Trail hall of fame (2h40’59”). Behind the 2026 Veneto regional champion were Thomas Steck (2h49’05”) and Isaia Iori (3h00’34”).

In the women’s race, once again, everyone finished behind Vicenza’s Martina Dal Bosco (3h22’14”). Second place, behind the new Veneto champion in the category, went to Edeltraud Thaler (3h26’13”) and Anna Andres (3h34’35”).

GRAND FINALE TOMORROW WITH THE 16KM SHORT

The ASICS Malcesine Baldo Trail program will conclude with the 16-kilometer “Short” race. Start and finish are again at Lake Malcesine, but in this case the route winds along trails and dirt roads at mid-slope with an elevation gain of 1,185 meters.
