VRM TEAM A.S.D. in collaboration with the municipalities of Malcesine, Avio and Brentonico is organizing the second edition of the ASICS MALCESINE BALDO TRAIL – 26k MEDIUM trail running event included in the Fidal National Calendar.

Departure 8:30 a.m.

Route

The competition takes place on a mostly dirt route with a length of about 26.4 km with a positive elevation gain of 2,117 meters

Participation requirements

In accordance with the “Norme per l’Organizzazione delle Manifestazioni Non Stadia” issued by FIDAL, athletes registered in Italy may only participate if they are at least 20 years old and meet one of the following conditions

  • Athletes registered for 2025 for clubs affiliated with FIDAL
  • Italian and foreign Athletes in possession of Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete) and Athletes registered for a Sports Promotion Body (Sect. Athletics), in possession of Runcard-EPS and Runcard Trail, limited to persons from 20 years of age in possession of a valid medical certificate of specific agonistic fitness for athletics, which must be compulsorily delivered, also digitally, to the organizing companies of each event.
  • Italian/foreigner athletes not registered in Italy holding club memberships affiliated with Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics valid in 2025. At the time of registration, they must alternatively submit self-certification of possession of the World Athletics recognized card. The self-certification should then, however, be signed in original at the time of bib pick-up.

Registrations

Registration is open from October 15, 2024 to April 30, 2025, can be done online through endu.net

Registration is considered effective and confirmed when all the information requested in the registration form is provided correctly and payment is made, confirmed and accepted by the organization.

Registration Fees

The registration fees are staggered as follows:

  • October 28 to November 30, 2024 – €25.00
  • December 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025 – €30.00
  • February 1 to March 31, 2025 – €35.00
  • April 1 to April 30, 2025 – €40.00

Refund of registration fees

There is no refund of the registration fee under any circumstances.
It is possible to transfer one’s already purchased Bib, no later than 20.04.2025.
In this case, the successor competitor will have to pay the secretarial fees and the difference between the fee paid by the transferor and the fee in effect at the time of the change request.

Event cancellation due to health reasons

In case the event cannot be held on the date of May 3, 2025, the organization plans to move it to the 2026 edition free of charge.

Participation in the “I don’t litter campaign

Athletes, under penalty of disqualification, must behave in a way that respects the natural environment, especially avoiding littering, near refreshments and along the entire route.

Chest Pickup

The race number can be collected in Malcesine, at the event secretariat, on presentation of the confirmation letter and a photo ID:

  • Friday, May 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (for members of all distances)
  • Saturday, May 3 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. (for 26K and 52K registrants) and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ( for 16k registrants)
  • Sunday, May 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (for those registered for the 16K)

Times and locations of race number collection are subject to change and will be published in the updated event programme on this website.

Bib

The starting number is given in sequential order.

The bib number has a different colour to indicate the race distance.

The breastplate must be worn on the chest and be made visible in its entirety at all times throughout the race. It must be placed over all clothing and under no circumstances fixed anywhere else, under penalty of disqualification.

A chip is affixed to the bib, which cannot be removed in any way.

Gathering

Before the start each runner must compulsorily pass through the entrance gates to the closed starting area.

Participants, if necessary, will be divided into starting grids based on the criteria defined by the Organizing Committee.

SWIMMING ROOMS AND SHOWERS ARE PROVIDED.

PERSONAL WEAR BAGS COLLECTION AND DELIVERY SERVICE IS PROVIDED

The event will be held in all weather conditions.

Refreshments on the route

The refreshment stations will be supplied with drinking water and disposable products.

No plastic cups will be available at any of the refreshment stations: to drink, runners must equip themselves with a glass or other personal container suitable for use.

Refreshments at the end

After arrival there will be delivery of a bag containing water and solids.

Running Rules

By registering, the runner signs a commitment to carry all the mandatory equipment listed below throughout the race, under penalty of disqualification. Mandatory materials may be checked at bib pickup, at the start and/or at surprise locations along the course and at the finish.

Mandatory equipment for all races:

  • personal glass with a minimum capacity of 150 cc (water bottle if with a wide cap is valid as a glass): NO GLASSES ARE PROVIDED AT REFRESHMENTS!

The competitions are held on a self-sufficient basis, so in the sections of the race that separate the various aid stations set up along the route, each athlete must provide clothing, communications, water and food supplementation on his or her own.

Required materials:

  • Race rucksack to carry the obligatory equipment
  • Thermal sheeting
  • Waterproof jacket (in case of heavy rain forecast with 20k water column seal or in case of temperatures below 5°)
  • Whistle
  • Cell phone
  • Adequate water supply (minimum 1 liter )
  • suitable footwear for running on mountain terrain (rocks, stones, gravel)
  • energy bars or solid foods

Material recommended depending on the weather

  • cap or bandanna
  • gloves
  • sunglasses
  • long-sleeved thermal shirt
  • mineral salts

the use of Sticks is allowed

Maximum time and time barriers

The maximum time for the 26k race is 8 hours

There will be one or more split time checkpoints, which will be determined according to the total distance and the logistical characteristics of the course. Athletes who do not pass the checkpoint within the time limit will be considered to have dropped out of the race and will be taken back to the start/finish point by the organising committee.

The participant who is eliminated from the race and continues to run nevertheless assumes full responsibility for the resulting consequences.

In case of bad weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organization reserves the right to suspend the current trial, delay the start, vary the course, change the time barriers or cancel the race, without prior notice.

Dropouts and returns

In case of abandonment of the race along the course, the competitor is obliged to communicate his abandonment by registering as withdrawn at the nearest checkpoint.

The organization will take care of his return from the checkpoint to the finish area also making use of the Monte Baldo cable car.

The return of retreatants outside the checkpoints is not guaranteed except in the case of injury.

A “broom service” is provided that will travel the course following the last competitor in the race, so as to be of help to retreatants and to prevent any injured from being left without assistance.

Security and medical care

Ambulances, civil defense and medics will be present in the area.

The aid stations are intended to bring assistance to all persons in danger by the organization’s own means or through contracted organizations.

Medical officials are empowered to suspend runners judged unfit to continue the race.

Rescuers are empowered to evacuate by all means of their own convenience runners judged to be in danger.

A runner who appeals to a doctor or a rescuer effectively submits to his authority and agrees to abide by his decisions.

Timekeeping

Timing is done by means of chips applied to the personal Bib.

The company in charge is EvoData

Timing is done in real time i.e. by detecting the interval in which the competitor crossed the start line and reaches the finish line, regardless of the start time.

Rankings and Awards

All participants will be provided with a chip installed in the Bib.

The timing service will be responsible for drawing up the overall men’s and women’s overall rankings.

The rankings will be visible on the endu.net website.

After the finish line each runner will be given a “Finisher” medal.

No printouts of the results will be displayed.

Awards will be held for all competitions on Saturday, May 3 at 4 p.m.

Disqualifications

The Competition Jury may pronounce the disqualification of a competitor in case of a serious breach of the rules.

Changes to the route or time barriers – Cancellation of the race

The organization reserves the right to change the route or the location of aid and refreshment posts at any time without prior notice. In the event of adverse weather conditions or for other reasons beyond the control of the organization and such as to endanger the safety of the competitors, the start may be postponed or canceled, the course may be modified and shortened, and the race may be stopped at any point on the course. The above changes will be taken by the Jury, also after hearing the opinion of the safety officers and medical team. Modification, suspension or cancellation of the race will not entitle competitors to any refund of the entry fee.

Security and medical care

The organizer shall take out liability insurance for the entire period of the trial.

Participation takes place under the full responsibility of the runners, who waive all recourse against the organizers in case of damages and further consequences that may arise as a result of the race.

At the time of registration, the runner must sign a liability release.

The runner acknowledges that he/she should not register and participate if not medically fit and especially if not athletically prepared.

Image Right

By registering, competitors authorize the organization to use free of charge, without territorial or time limits, still and moving images of them while participating in the race.

Updates and final warnings

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for the better organization of the race, after giving notice to and obtaining approval from FIDAL.

For anything not provided for in these regulations, the technical statutory rules of FIDAL and G.G.G. apply.

Any changes to services, places and times will be appropriately communicated to registered athletes or will be reported on the website https://malcesinebaldotrail.run.

In addition, documentation containing essential information for taking part in the race will be delivered by the organization together with the Bib.
