New early-season happening on Lake Garda unveiled to the media
Four races over different distances, a three-day event, two regions (Veneto, Trentino) and three municipalities involved (Malcesine, Brentonico, Avio), a fairytale location, great potential, and a strong desire to grow. This is the winning mix of the Malcesine Baldo Trail, which organizers and local authorities presented to the media this morning in the council chamber of the Verona Chamber of Commerce.
Behind the scenes is VRM TEAM Asd, a group of true professionals with 10 years of international experience in the world of road racing. Following the success of the Mura Trail, president Francesco Pisciotta’s team wanted to raise the bar once again by proposing a three-day trail running event on Monte Baldo, the Upper Garda mountain that serves as a watershed between Veneto and Trentino.
Also present at the speakers’ table were Paolo Artelio (Board Member of the Verona Chamber of Commerce), Christian Chincarini (Malcesine City Councilor), Giorgio Schena (President of Funivie Monte Baldo), Ivano Fracchetti (Mayor of Avio), and Silvia Mozzi (Deputy Mayor of Brentonico).
THE EVENT:
Breathtaking views of Upper Garda, single tracks just waiting to be pushed, narrow alleys rich in history in villages where time seems to have stood still… Athletes taking part in the first edition of the Malcesine Baldo Trail on the weekend of May 20–22 will find all this and much more.
The event, intentionally scheduled for the start of the season to further encourage off-season tourism and meet runners’ demands for a major spring happening, features 4 races of varying distance and technicality. For logistical and organizational reasons, numbers for the first edition will be intentionally capped to offer optimal service to every single competitor and allow the organizing committee to understand the true potential of each individual race.
Around a hundred bibs have been set aside for the “vertical” (1000m D+) on Friday, May 20, which serves as the sole Fidal Regional Championship race. 250 bibs will be available for Saturday’s “ultra” 50km (3,355m D+) and “medium” 24km (1,994m D+) races, while 500 competitors will be admitted to the “short” 16km (1,185m D+) on Sunday morning.
Registration is now open on the website https://malcesinebaldotrail.run/
